Lovely Knit Top Down Cardigan Baby Sweater
I adore this lovely top down cardigan baby sweater! I love the classic lines and the sweet lace detail at the shoulders! It’s called Nowegian Fir Top Down Cardigan and it’s by Oge Knitwear Designs. She has so many lovely designs, this won’t be the last one I knit.
This sweater has been the subject of some very intensive Instagram discussions. First, I ran out of yarn. Yes, I do this sometimes. I start a sweater with too little yarn, knowing I can’t finish. I always think that I’ll magically figure it out somehow along the way! Well, I got to the end of my skein, and I almost made it a little crop top with 3/4 length sleeves.
Though my IG followers were 50/50 about adding the cream, I bit the bullet and finished with a cream color-block section. I figured I could pull it out if I didn’t like it, but I adore it! The additional suggestion from my community was to add another couple of rows of taupe near the bottom to tie it together. But, I like it more strictly color-blocked in this way. The yarn is Madelinetosh Vintage (I’m pretty sure). They were loose balls in my stash, so . . .
Next, I put up 4 different button choices, and another lively debate ensued. You’ll have to check it out over on IG if you want to see how crazy it got! I’m happy with my selection. The scalloped edge and little engraved detailing matches well with the lace detail along the raglan sleeve.
Finally, the trick is to decide who to give this lovely top down cardigan baby sweater to. Of course, the baby I knit it for is now too big for it. It always seem to work this way. Am I the only one? Well, there are a couple more pregnant ladies in my life, and now I have the most darling little gift waiting!
