We love this crochet basket made with our fabulous Flax & Twine Brenn 5mm recycled twisted cotton rope. Crocheting through the front loop adds some extra texture and interest. Care Instructions: Spot clean or gently hand wash cold. Lay flat to dry. Avoid agitation to prevent unravelling or fraying.

Returns
Our policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange. To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. Skeins of yarn must not be opened. It must also be in the original packaging.

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days. Refund amount will be less the shipping charge required to return the item, if applicable.

Exchanges

Shipping

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.

MOST DEFINITELY NOT FOR A BEGINNER

My understanding of this kit was it was for a beginner. Not so much. I have sat with the video no less than 12 times and for the life of me, I'm stuck on step 3, connecting the chains to create a circle. The video does not show clear enough where within the slipnot to put the hook. And even after you do think you have the right spot, there is no way you're going to get 8 more stiches through it. I guess I'll be making a macrame plant hanger with the cord.

We are so sorry to hear you’ve had such a frustrating experience with the Brooklyn Basket! We never want a project to feel like a struggle, and we truly appreciate your persistence in trying the video 12 times. That is some serious maker-dedication, and we applaud you!

We do want to clarify for future projects that while this is a quick and simple pattern, it is intended for those who already have a basic understanding of crochet stitches. Working with 5mm rope can be a bit of a workout compared to traditional yarn, especially when navigating those foundation stitches! This would be a difficult project to learn on!

Regarding Step 3: It sounds like the tension might be the culprit. When working with thick cotton rope, if the initial slipknot or foundation chain is pulled too tight, it can feel nearly impossible to fit the subsequent stitches into that center ring.

We have two options to help make this right:

1. Return your kit: We want you to love what you make. If you’d prefer not to use the materials for another project, we are more than happy to accept a return of the Brooklyn Basket for a refund.

2. Get Extra Help: If you decide you want to give it one last shot, we'd be happy to connect with you to help you through that initial ring and get you started!

Good for learning

This was great to learn how to make baskets. Instructions were easy to follow and help was available. My only complaint would be my basket isn’t flat on the bottom so it looks crooked. Maybe more practice will help. Overall, I’m glad I bought it to start with.

Cute little basket

Had fun making the basket. A bit challenging with the stiff rope but doable. My came out smaller as I was only able to do two and half around. Still a nice addition to my desk. Highly recommend.

We use rope because it gives the baskets that beautiful architectural structure and durability, which we think makes the extra effort totally worth it. I just pulled this project out and finished in about an hour! It was fun, quieting and super cute! I’m making some tweaks to the handle as the cord is a bit short. I love this and am hooked!
