Thought it would be less fragmented

I haven't use raffia before, but from watching videos, I thought it would be less fragmented. Each piece seems to be ripped lengthwise so much it's a challenge to get it to lie flat and stay untangled.

Hi Chel, Thanks so much for your response and thoughts on the raffia. It sounds like you have been watching videos of people working with raffia ribbon or raffia made of synthetic materials. That raffia stays very uniform and can be long lengths so you can crochet and knit with it as well. Natrual raffia comes from the leaves of the Raffia Palm. The strands are shredded from the leaves. As it is a natural material they vary in width and length accordingly. This works well with basketry. If it bothers you, however, I suggest trying or searching for Raffia Ribbon, which would provide you more consistent length and width. Please let me know if you have any questions at all. We're happy to help.
Warmly, Anne

LOVE F&T COLORS!!!

I'm addicted to their green & blue hues, and couldn't wait to order more! I only started weaving a month ago and I'm obsessed. I look forward to weaving every evening after work. And Flax & Twine has the loveliest assortment of dyed Madagascar raffia.
