Cruz Hoody with Back Zipper Baby Sweater
A hoody with a back zipper is a perfect baby gift. When my nephew was born, I knew I wanted to design a special sweater for him to welcome him into to the world. It had to keep him warm and be easy for his mom and dad to get it on and off of him. And of course, it had to be adorable on him! So with all of that in mind, I designed the Cruz Hoody with Back Zipper pattern.
It’s available in my shop and on Ravelry now. (all pattern links in this post not labeled Ravelry will take you to my shop).
Isn’t my newphew adorable? He outgrew the first sweater, so I made him another! He’s getting so big now, and I’m very sad that I can’t see him with Covid 19. The pattern includes seven different sizes – from 6 months to 4 years, so it’s easy to make a new sweater for him as he grows!
I love the raglan detail. I think it’s going to become your go-to baby knit. It’s unisex, so it will work for a boy or a girl.
If you haven’t inserted a zipper into a knitted garment before, a baby sweater is a great way to learn. It’s small and easy to manage. Plus, this pattern will walk you through the process step-by-step. This is a detail that moms and dads love because it makes it so easy to dress the baby.
This pattern calls for a worsted/aran weight yarn. I knit the natural-colored version out of a beautiful and rustic aran weight yarn, PacaWool in Silver Birch. It is a 75% alpaca / 25% wool blend. It’s available in my shop in three different colors if you’d like to make one too! If you have leftover yarn, you could finger knit these adorable booties from my book Knitting Without Needles.
