Lemon Ginger Tea Recipe

I’ve recently added Lemon Ginger Tea to my daily routine and it’s making me so happy. This isn’t generic ginger tea from a tea bag, but just the fresh ingredients seeped in boiling water. I find it so soothing and yummy, I wanted to share how to make it and a little about ginger’s beneficial properties, as well.

Ginger root is extremely helpful in digestion, not only in reducing bloating or any discomfort you may have, but mainly in helping you absorb the nutrients from the food you do eat. Ginger tea can reduce nausea and settle your stomach, even for pregnancy related morning sickness.

Studies have shown that ginger reduces joint inflammation due to arthritis. Other independent studies show that ginger improves the overall movement of muscles and joints for individuals of any age. Ginger is a great anti-oxidant and is a good source of Magnesium, B6, Potassium, and Copper. And if that weren’t enough, I think it’s downright tasty when prepared as Lemon Ginger Tea.

Lemon Ginger Tea Recipe

3 c water
2 inches of ginger root
1/2 lemon
1 T honey

:: Fill a teapot or saucepan with water, put over medium heat.
:: Cut about 20 thin slices of the ginger root, skin and all. Crush the ginger with a pestle (the bottom of a cup or bowl works as well).
:: Add the sliced root to the water and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
:: Squeeze 1/2 a lemon into the mixture at the very end.
:: Strain the mixture with a strainer over your tea cup.
:: Add honey to taste. I’ve been using Manuka Honey which has amazing health and anti-bacterial benefits on its own.

Recently, I’ve been struggling with my digestion and have been diagnosed with SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth). This Lemon Ginger Tea has been my go-to drink for a soothing, relaxing and yummy treat. Gut health is tied to all sorts of overall health imacts including depression, ADHD, insomnia, brain fog and more. I have recently embarked on a special diet to improve my gut health, and am curious how it will change how I feel overall. I will be sure to let you know how things proceed and if I see some of the feelings in my body and life changing for the better. Do any of you have experience with this? I would love to hear your thoughts.
