Valdani Embroidery Thread and Dish Towel Kits

Valdani Embroidery Thread has been one of my favorite materials to work with since someone handed me a little ball of it at a retreat to help mend a hole in my jeans. It was love at first sight. Ever since then, it’s been a dream of mine to carry it in my shop and I’m so excited to announce that it’s now available at Flax & Twine! This gorgeous thread is 100% pearl cotton and it’s not just for embroidery. I also use it for crochet, weaving, and sashiko.

Valdani Thread is hand-dyed by artisans, it’s mercerized, and it’s colorfast. I love the color variations and gorgeous sheen because it makes every project so unique.

The Valdani Thread is available as single spools or a 3-spool gift pack of custom-picked color combinations. I had so much fun putting the combinations together. I love collecting these little spools – they’re almost too pretty to use but the colors give me so much inspiration. Picking the perfect colors for my projects from my collection makes me so happy!

I have also put together kits for my Crochet Edged Dish Towels. These towels make a lovely heirloom gift and they look so pretty hanging in your kitchen. The kit includes everything you need to make two towels and there are two different edgings – the Scallop pattern and the Picot pattern. Both are beautiful and they look so delicate on the flour sack cotton dish towels. The pattern is easy to follow and it includes step-by-step photos.

I use Valdani Thread any chance I can get! Another crochet project I’ve done with it is the Marled Crochet Clutch. I held three strands of Valdani together to make this simple clutch. It’s fun to carry with any outfit – from a dressier outfit or jeans.

I also used Valdani for the Coiled Medallions in my book, Weaving Within Reach. I used a traditional basketmaking technique to weave this unique circular design. You can turn the medallions into earrings or a cute shoe topper for your simple ballet flats.
