Giant Crocheted Snowflake Kit

Create these gorgeous giant crocheted snowflakes! These are perfect to top gifts, hang around the house, or strewn across a runner or buffet. A desiger for Martha Stewart wrote the patterns for these snowflakes.  I was asked by Martha Stewart to redo them with step-by-step directions, which I did. Unfortunately, she does not have the patterns for the snowflakes up on her blog anymore. If anyone finds it, please let me know.

Kit includes:

:: 123 yards of Flax & Twine Daytime Linen
:: Size 7, 4.5mm Crochet Hook
:: Giant Snowflakes Pattern, Video & Instructions

Tricky To Use

The flax wants to separate very easily making it difficult to crochet, and hard to keep the stitches uniform. However, they are different from other crafts, and I like that!

Giant crocheted snowflake kit

I love Flax and Twine kits. However I found the daytime linen thread in this kit to be “fussy” to work with. It kept splitting. I found the dainty crochet snowflake instructions to be a little unclear. Would love to see a video of these.

Love the BIG snowflakes

I’ve made two so far - haven’t stiffened them yet, but love the larger than life flakes!! Makes a wonderful gift. The fiber is a little tricky to work with - if you’re not careful, it splits.

Yay - thanks so much Joann. The splitting is the downside of working with 100% linen at a DK weight, but I feel the benefits of that natural look and the joys of linen far outeigh the downsides! Use the liquid stiffener (dipping kind) to stiffen. Happy holidays!
